Nadia and Aidan are 20-year-old fraternal twins from Paris whose mother is originally from South Philadelphia. In an attempt to get in touch with their American heritage, they come to the United States to explore and meet extended family members, paying their way as performing musicians, and filming their adventures for a documentary they hope to make about their travels. Along they way, they learn that America is much more complicated than they expected, especially as their performances gain them a following and turn them into a national sensation.
Told in a unique, dual-first person narration style, Nadia and Aidan explores what it means to be American from the standpoint of two kids who grew up in France with an American mother. It also looks at how we define family beyond DNA and “blood” relations, when life isn’t always that simple.
